Weather worries continue

With Christmas successfully out of the way the next big event is New Year's Eve. It's another excuse to drive to friends or relatives and have a good night out. However the British weather is still at its worst and with more snow on its way staying home may be your best bet.

There is no point taking to the roads if they aren't in a safe state, it could well lead to a claim on your car insurance that isn't necessary. If you must travel try to hit the road before dark as it is much easier to judge the conditions and snow falling into your headlights can be dazzling and hard on the eyes.

Check your route before you leave so you know what to expect and make sure you have blankets and a fully charged mobile in case of the worst. If you don't need to travel then stay home and celebrate the New Year without the worry of a long drive.

If you are planning on leaving your house for a few days during this nasty, cold spell then keep the heating on to help prevent any frozen pipes. Put a light on a timer so your home looks occupied which will help deter would be burglars who will want to get their hands on your Christmas booty.
